WordCamp Tokyo 2019: thank you and a look back

On November 1-2, 2019, WordCamp Tokyo 2019 was held to great success.
LIQUID PRESS (LIQUID DESIGN Ltd.) took part as a sponsor.

What is WordCamp?

WordCamp is an official WordPress event held all around the world. This was the 11th WordCamp Tokyo. This year, WordCamps were also held in Haneda and Niigata.

About our sponsorship

This was the 5th time we have sponsored a WordCamp as LIQUID PRESS.

Our first sponsorship was WordCamp Tokyo 2016, the year our company was founded. (We printed far too many flyers that time.)

Back then WordPress was at version 4.6, but it is now at 5.2 (at the time of writing), and the editing screen has evolved into the block editor (Gutenberg).

This was the 2nd time we have exhibited a booth as LIQUID PRESS. It was a precious opportunity to interact directly with our users. (We are sorry that we could not explain things very well during the booth tour.)

The USB-C < USB adapters, handy for MacBooks and Android devices, were so popular that people told us "this alone made coming here worth it" (laughs). This time too we prepared about 100 of them, and we were able to hand out every single one. Thank you very much.

LIQUID BLOCKS

At the LIQUID PRESS booth this time, we introduced "LIQUID BLOCKS", an official WordPress plugin that makes the block editor (Gutenberg) even easier to use. It is a set of block templates offering more than 33 designs free of charge.

Thanks to everyone's support, even though it was only just released, the number of active installations has passed 100.

Because the dummy text is in English, we were often asked whether it was made overseas, but of course it is made by us here in Japan. Thanks to internationalization, it supports 3 languages (English, Japanese, and Spanish) at present. If you are considering switching over from the classic editor, please do try out the block editor together with "LIQUID BLOCKS".

We hope to contribute, in our own small way, to the spread and development of the block editor.

Sessions

One of the great attractions of WordCamp is its sessions. This time there were more than 20 of them. We were also impressed by the multilingual real-time subtitling system provided by the communication support app "UD Talk".

Networking event

We also took part in the "Theme and Plugin Developers Networking Event".
Many WordPress theme and plugin developers and development companies are active in regional areas, and just as this WordCamp's theme "Connect." suggests, we are always inspired by the power of an open community where anyone, anywhere, can easily connect and take on new challenges.
